
From the kitchen of Sylvia Russell (Makes 6 dozen)
My mom made these every Christmas.
1 cup shortening (part butter or margarine)
1 ½ cup of sugar
2 eggs
2 ¾ cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar (spice)
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon

- Heat Oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
- Mix shortening, sugar and eggs toughly, creaming them together.
- Measure flour by dipping or sifting method.
- Bend flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt, stir in.
- Shape dough in 1 inch balls
- Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
- Places two inches appear on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 8-10 minutes this puff up at first, and then flatten out.
