
From the Kitchen of Grandma Mary Russell
This is what you did with all your old bananas that are overripe.
Ingredients:
2 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2/3 cup of shortening
2/3 cup of sugar
2/3 cup of light brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 egg
1 cup of mashed bananas (3 bananas, can be overripe)
1/2 package of chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Sift together, flour, baking powder, and salt (set aside flour mixture).
2 Cream shortening (cisco), sugar, and brown sugar put it in mixer bowl, turn on mixer (till white and fluffy).
3. Beat in vanilla and egg after fluffy.
4. Blend in bananas and then flour mixture.
5. Stir in chocolate pieces by hand.
6. Spread batter evenly in a greased (shortening) floured jelly roll pan.
7. Bake 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
8. Take out to cool for 15 minutes.
9. Cut into bars and serve.
